Updated Notice to the Profession on Court Proceedings

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice released an updated Notice to the Profession and Public yesterday.

The Court has directed all non-jury matters to proceed virtually unless it is absolutely necessary to hold the proceedings in person. The requirement to defer as many matters as possible, including virtual hearings, no longer applies.

The Notice also indicates that jury trials may be able to resume in July, August or September, depending on the public health situation. Counsel and parties are directed to check for local directions and/or confirm with local scheduling staff.
