Updated Notice to Profession in Light of Omicron Variant

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice recently issued a Notice to the Profession and Public in response to the Omicron variant.

Jury trials will not commence in any court location until February 7, 2022.  The decision to continue trials that are in progress will be made by the presiding judge, taking into account the position of the parties and making any necessary adjustments to accommodate those who do not wish to attend in person.

All civil matters will proceed virtually. However, where necessary, particularly in situations of urgency, the Court may direct cases to proceed as hybrid hearings.

Thank you to the Toronto Lawyers Association for bringing this notice to the attention of the profession.
